Island Café
Tangs, 310 Orchard Road, 4th floor, Singapore
It has been years since I visited this restaurant which is hidden at the 4th floor of Orchard Tangs. It was a birthday occasion for my apprentice, Jacintha Wee, so I decided to recommend her to this place.
Arrived at 7.30pm, I was kind of surprised by how much Tangs have changed from floor to floor and what’s surprised me was that even the restaurant has been relocated and renovated.
That’s my worry. Many things can change for the better or worse after a revamped and I hope for the better though.
Walking into the restaurant, I must say, the new impression was great. It gives you a new contemporary look. The uniforms of the staffs have changed and the place brighten up, giving you a classier feeling.
Even the menu looks updated with a few new dishes especially on the spaghetti segment. However, the good will be that their Asian cuisines, Laksa Supreme, Nasi Lemak, Curry Chicken and etc are all still available.
I went for my usual, Laksa Supreme while my friends went for the satay sticks and also meat ball spagatti.
After such a long period of time, missing from this place, the dishes were simply delicious. The laksa was with enough thickness and not stingy with their ingredients. The satay was tender and well-seasoned. The meat ball was tasty supported by the spaghetti which was pretty well blend in. It was supposed to come with a spicy sauce but we made a special request to have it non spicy and they were so accommodating, making a mushroom cream sauce specially for her. This is what I call sales and service.
