Monster Curry

It had been a long time since I travelled to the western region of Singapore after moving over to Northern Singapore. Jurong Point Shopping Mall had made so many changes and even added an extension which included a new wing. There was even a Hong Kong and Japan themed food street with different types of food. If you get a chance, drop by and you will not be disappointed by this 1 stop food heaven.
As I was waiting for my business partner for dinner, the first thing that attracted me was the big 7 headed dragon logo of the restaurant. Its distinct look attracted my attention and this was what drew me to decide on dining there for dinner.
After the business meeting, we headed to Monster Curry. I was told by the friendly cashier that the serving of the Seafood Monster Curry was meant to be shared by 2. Thankfully she had given me that warning if not that would have resulted in me ordering 2 portions; which would have been a problem as it would have been 4 persons worth of food at our table. We ended up ordering both the Chicken and Pork Katsu.
The setup of the restaurant gave the vibe of that of a fast food outlet and red seemed to be the signature color of the restaurant. The spiciness of the curry ranged across a broad spectrum; 14 different spices over 5 different levels. The brave among you may want to try the level 5 flame whilst I humbly tried the 1 flame level.
In terms of waiting time, we only had to wait 25 minutes before our food was brought to us. The portion size was huge and it was well plated. The fragrance from the curry was strong and it greatly stirred my appetite. My favorite part in the plate was tempura. It was well seasoned, deep fried and yet tender on the inside.
My next 2 favorite ingredients were the scallops and fried fish. The pork Katsu was unfortunately not very impressive and was a little tough. The chicken katsu I felt was only average.
As we were finishing the meal, I overheard the patrons beside me commenting that it was just another Japanese fast food restaurant. I feel that this is something that is more than just a normal fast food restaurant and serves good food despite the fact it is not as refined as the more specialized Japanese restaurants.
