Last month, we had an event at F Club Clarke Quay, we decided on a restaurant there. The choice was The Steakhouse.
3 of us arrived at 7pm. The setup of the restaurant gave us the vibe that it was a place for fine dining given its beautiful interior décor. However despite it being well furnished, on that day part of the ceiling was under repair because water was dripping down continually from the roof into the pail, and this unfortunately spoilt the ambience for us.
Other than during this fateful encounter on this visit, I believe that on other instances, this could be an awesome place to be in with your friends for a good catch up or celebration.
Our appetizers were Crab Fillets and French Fries while our entrees were Roasted Chicken and Beef Filet Mignon. The side dishes came after a 20 minutes wait. They were tasty; especially the crab fillets with delicious stuffing and a fairly generous portion of crab meat. It took nearly an hour of waiting before our entree, Beef Filet Mignon arrived. We ordered for medium rare and when we received it, it was not what we ordered. Rather than it being medium rare, it turned out to be more medium than medium rare. Things went along smoothly until something unpleasant happened than made our evening turn for the worse.
A friend of mine who ordered the roasted chicken, had not received his meal even after we finished our steak. Even after an hour half his meal had still not arrived. We asked the waitress to check on the order and we also later followed up by speaking to the Manager. To our horror, we found that they had forgotten our order. The strange thing was that my friend had ordered his meal before us.
However, after a long wait, the Roasted chicken arrived and was given to us “on the house”. Well, the Roasted Chicken, looked good on the plate but on tasting it, it turned out to be too salty. We didn’t want to pursue this matter any further, and after waiting for my friend to finish up his meal, we settled the bill and headed off for our event.
I doubt we will be returning anytime soon because for the price that we are paying, the service that we got was not up to standard. The only saving grace for the place is the ambience that left a deep impression on us.
