Red Hot Wok Chao Do

Red Hot Wok Chao Do 66 Ho Tung Mau, P. Ben Nghe, District 1, Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam

As a night owl, I come alive at night and often I am stuck with difficult decisions on finding food in the early hours of the morning. In Ho Chi Minh, good food is something that I am continually on the lookout for. Recently I managed to find a late night supper place, Chao Do and this is my first choice if you are looking at restaurant with air-conditioning as opposed to street stalls.

They serve a good variety of food and with some unique range of ‘animal delights’ too. Without going too much into details of the more ‘exotic’ dishes, my recommendation to you will be their frog porridge and fried chicken bone beats.

The Singapore started franchise; Geylang 9 frog porridge, has opened a branch in Ho Chi Minh City. However, I feel that despite competition from the franchise, Chao Do served the best frog porridge I have tried so far. For me personally, taste is the most important aspect of a dish and while the presentation and how well the food is prepared is important, at the end of the day, the taste is the main deciding factor for me.

Their fried chicken bone beats is simply a remarking dish and something that will definitely be enjoyed. It is something I have never tried or even come across in Singapore and it is something I just can’t get enough of. This is truly a dish I will never miss when travelling to Ho Chi Minh City.

The stall also has a wide range of other dishes such as sweet and sour pork, roasted pigeon and many others.
