On one of my regular trips to Ho Chi Minh City, I was catching up with a friend because of her birthday and she introduced me to La Maison.
The eating outlet was a very well decorated French restaurant. The service was top class with very attentive waiters and waitresses who were eagerly awaiting to help and serve us. We were ushered to our seats promptly and once we settled down, we chose our main courses subsequently.
My friend said that their steak was good so I went for mashed potatoes as my side and tenderloin steak cooked well done. My friend ordered their grilled chicken and fruit salad as her side.
We waited for about 45 minutes and the food finally arrived. As a habit of mine, I sliced into the beef to see if the meat met my expectations on how my steak should be cooked and if my requests were followed. A problem arose and sadly, this led to things going badly for my visit to the outlet.
The steak was raw to rare and I saw the blood from the beef on the plate. To me I felt disappointed that my order was not correct, the blood was something I found very unsightly for me, and I highlighted the problem to the waiters
After another 15 minutes wait, they served my beef and by this time, my friend is almost done with her entree. I checked my beef for the 2nd time and this time round, it was medium well. I was reluctant to make the change again but my friend went ahead and told them that it was not well done. They took it back again and once again apologised. There I waited for another 10 minutes and it finally arrived well done.
However, personally I felt that the beef did not meet my expectation and it was very tough. Furthermore, after realising that the meat was served on a warm plate, I wondered if they grilled the beef or micro waved it. I completely lost my appetite but I did enjoy the mash potatoes. For me that was the highlight of the evening.
