I have visited this restaurant 3 times in a space of 2 years. In all my three visits, I have always been with friends’ families. Unfortunately, I have my reservations on this place when it comes to the price that you pay for the food that they provide. While I have to agree that Hoang Yen is a big F&B company in Vietnam given the number of branches they have across Vietnam, personally I feel the food is not as good compared to other establishments of its class.
The one thing I like about the branch at Zen Plaza is its settings. The restaurant is spacious. It has a cosy ambience, staffs are pretty attentive because the crowd can be quite small (50% to 70% full) given the peak period (Friday to Sunday).
However, when it comes down to food, I find it normal and the range of food to choose from is quite limited.
The seasoning of some dishes are weak especially the chicken and fish. The steamed fish is quite tasteless so that was a big letdown for me.
The funniest encounter I had was during my 1st visit, I thought that the free flow of crabs would be the highlight of the night. The two choices of seasoning are black sauce or grilled.
However, during my 3rd visit, they no longer served free flow of crabs but each guest would only be given a crab claw. I am unsure if I went on the wrong day or whether there has been a change in how the serving is managed.
Unless is for business or family gathers for the need of impressing if not I would not recommend this place because the changes that have been implemented by the franchise is something that does not meet my basic expectations especially for the price you are paying for.
